If you live in a heavily wooded area, take extra care to inspect yourself head to toe as well as your pet’s fur after spending time outdoors. These small arachnids are known for carrying Lyme disease, so the quicker you can detect and remove them, the better.
On Clothes
Ticks love to latch onto clothing. This is how they find their way into your home. After spending time outdoors, feel through your clothing to ensure that you haven’t brought a blood-sucking traveler with you.
On Skin
As they feed on you or your pet, ticks will eventually embed part of their head into your skin. For this reason, they can go unnoticed until you start to experience redness or swelling. Severe itching in a specific area is also a sign that a tick has made you into a meal.
